Why Can't i Download Files
You are trying to download a PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or other file in your course. However, your browser has a security setting preventing the download of files from web pages. Notably, the installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 will disrupt downloads.
To temporarily allow the file download:
Step 1: Look for a pale yellow bar in your browser. For example:
Step 2: Click anywhere on the pale yellow bar. The following menu appears:
Step 3: Click Download File, then proceed to Open or Save the file.
You may be kicked out of the course section and returned to the My WebCT course list at this point. Re-enter the section and go to the file again. This time the file should download.
To permanently allow file downloads:
Step 1: In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, then Internet Options.
Step 2: Click on the Security tab:
Step 3: Click the Internet globe icon, then click the Custom Level button:
Step 4: Scroll down until you see Downloads.
Step 5: Under Automatic prompting for file downloads, select Enable:
Step 6: Click OK, then Yes:
Step 7: Click OK until you close out of the Internet Options.
