Strings –
Allegro Strings
and Explorers B do not require an audition. Students may audition
for placement into Concert Strings and/or VSYO on January 23 at 4:30
pm.
Refer to the
following guidelines for auditions:
String players in Concert Strings and VSYO take private lessons.
Concert Strings
Suzuki book 2-3 or equivalent solo piece. Prepare all one-octave scales
up to 4 sharps and flats.
VSYO
Suzuki book 3-4 or equivalent solo piece (e.g. Telemann, Vivaldi,
Rieding)
Choose any two 2 or 3 octave major or melodic minor scales.
Display abilities for some shifting and vibrato.
Winds –
Auditions for
VSYO, January 23 at 4:30
Wind players should also prepare two scales from all of the major scales. (All-state style if they wish)
Prepare two etudes or short pieces of contrasting style. (slow and one fast)
Placement will be determined by the conductor.
