Faculty Credentials
A key component of our reaffirmation of accreditation with SACS-COC is demonstrating that our faculty are highly qualified. In the 2012 Principles of Accreditation, Comprehensive Standard 3.7.1 states:
The institution employs competent faculty members qualified to accomplish the mission and goals of the institution. When determining acceptable qualifications of its faculty, an institution gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline. The institution also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees, related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes. For all cases, the institution is responsible for justifying and documenting the qualifications of its faculty.

The Faculty Credentials portal was initiated for VSU's reaffirmation of accreditation through SACS-COC, but will be a continuing process, as the information will be helpful for programs and department heads and directors. Every term that a faculty member teaches, s/he will need to upload course syllabi and qualifications for teaching the courses assigned. Faculty can also update their CV, the number of graduate credits earned in their discipline, any degrees earned, and Additional Professional Experience at any time.
To log in to the Faculty Credentials portal, click on the link at the left or below, then log in using your BlazeNet login name and password. If you have not yet accessed your BlazeNet e-mail account, you will need to contact the IT Helpdesk in order to set your password (229-245-HELP, or see link to Helpdesk below). Once logged in, click on the "View My Faculty Profile" link on the right of the screen. Directions for entering degree information, uploading syllabi, and/or updating your faculty profile are available through the links below.
All syllabi are now required to contain student learning outcomes. Core and undergraduate course syllabi must list the appropriate VSU General Education student learning outcomes as well as the relevant student learning outcomes for the major. Graduate course syllabi must list the relevant student learning outcomes for the graduate program of which they are a part. All matrices were provided by the individual departments. The General Education Outcomes Matrix, linking each undergraduate course to the general education outcomes it addresses, was put together by the Office of Strategic Research and Analysis from information submitted by the department heads.
