PSST! Auditions in the spring for each season's company.

SETC Professional Auditions, March 6-10, 2013, Louisville, KY.. PSST! will be participating in SETC's Job Contact and on-site interviews for tech and front-of-house positions within the company.

Auditions:

Local Auditions for the Peach State Summer Theatre 2013 season are scheduled for
Sunday, January 27, 2013 (check in begins at noon with an info meeting at 1 p.m). on the campus of Valdosta State University. Please click links for more information and forms: Letter to Auditionees, Audition Form, Directions. The 2013 season, presents in rotating repertory:The Sound of Music, The Marvelous Wonderettes and A Little Night Music.

CHILDREN'S AUDITIONS: Auditions for the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music and Frederika in A Little Night Music will be Sunday, January 27, 2013 (CHILDREN'S CHECK IN and information meeting is at 4 PM). Children should be prepared to sing a portion of a song of their choice (bring sheet music) an accompanist will be provided. Children will read from scripts provided. Children will also be taught a short dance combination to perform. Children are not compensated monetarily.
Seeking a maximum of 7 'von Trapp children' (5 females, 2 males) and 1 Frederika. Characters are aged 4 or 5 to 16 or 17.

A mandatory briefing is scheduled for the beginning of the audition.  At this time headshots and resumes will be collected and audition numbers will be distributed.  Auditions will begin immediately following the briefing.

Auditionees are expected to present:
* a one-minute light or comic monologue
* a 30-60 second vocal selection from the musical theatre repertoire. 
The monologue and song must be memorized and should not take longer than two minutes in total.

An accompanist is provided.  Please make sure all sheet music is clearly marked. 
The use of any recorded accompaniment or a cappella singing is prohibited.

Following the singing portion of the audition all auditionees are asked to attend a dance audition,
where a short combination will be taught.  Please bring appropriate dancewear and jazz or character
shoes.  The dance audition will be performed in small groups.

After the audition, Artistic Director, Jacque Wheeler and Managing Director, Duke Guthrie will be
available to answer questions.

PSST! will be auditioning performers for PRINCIPAL, ACTOR-TECH, and ENSEMBLE positions.
 

The performance company consists of:

  • One or two AEA Guest Artists.
  • A category of actors playing leads and major supporting in all 3 shows.
  • Actor/Techs who play supporting or ensemble roles in 2 shows and assist with the build and change-overs with all three shows.
  • Ensemble members who are in 2 or 3 shows as members of the ensemble, they may help run the third show, they assist with change-vers for all three shows.

PLEASE NOTE that as of January 2, 2013, the roles of Elsa Schaeder, Desiree Armfeldt, and Madame Armfeldt have been cast.
