Recommend approval for mandatory fee increases or new fees to Mandatory Fee Committee.  Review budget plans, including prioritization of projects proposed for funding through excess revenues and mandatory fees.

Pool Processes & Committee Guidelines:

The Student Fee Committee (SFC) is mandated by the Board of Regents in the BOR Policy Manual.

BOR Policy Manual Section 704.021
Proposals submitted by an institution to increase mandatory student fees and proposals to create new mandatory student fees shall first be presented for advice and counsel to a committee at each institution composed of at least fifty percent (50%) students, except in special circumstances when a general purpose fee is instituted system-wide by the Board of Regents (BoR Minutes, June 2009). Students shall be appointed by the institution’s student government association.

All mandatory student fees collected by an institution shall be budgeted and administered by the president using proper administrative procedures, which shall include the advice and counsel of an advisory committee composed at least fifty percent (50%) students, except in special circumstances when a general purpose fee is instituted system-wide by the Board of Regents (BoR Minutes, June 2009). Students shall be appointed by the institution’s student government association

The Committee has two major tasks; of which this pool is primarily concerned with task #2:

  1. Recommend mandatory fee increase to the President each fall.  Mandatory fees include Athletics, Student Activities, Parking & Transportation, Student Health, Technology, and One Card. Individuals responsible for respective mandatory fee areas, will present proposals to the committee for review.
  2. Hold budget hearing each spring for the purpose of allocating student activity fees to student organizations and programs. A resulting budget is recommended to the President.

Schedule & Call for Proposals: The fall meeting of the SFC will be Friday, November 20, in the Dean of Students’ Conference Room, first floor Hopper Hall. The spring meeting will take place in late March or early April.
