Upward Bound hiring for Summer 2010

Make a difference in the lives of first generation high school students and have a great summer job!

Peer Mentors
A peer mentor is a student staff member who provides leadership and guidance to students in the Upward Bound Program. They serve as role models and assist in achieving the goals of the program.

Summer work dates include: Summer Program June 7-July 16 (except for July 2nd and 5th).
Work shifts: 7:00am-3:00pm and 3:00pm-11:00pm
Compensation: $2,220 paid at the end of the work term. Meals are provided while working shifts.

*We prefer that applicants not have extra responsibilities outside of Upward Bound. We encourage Upward Bound alumni or VSU students who are not taking summer classes to apply.

Team Leaders

They are responsible for peer mentors and students during the 7:00am-3:00pm and 3:00pm-11:00pm shifts. They will assist the program director in organizing and guiding the peer mentors and students.

Summer work dates include: Summer Program June 7-July 16 (except for July 2nd and 5th).
Work shifts: TBD
Compensation: $2,880 paid at the end of the work term. Meals are provided while working shifts.

Residential Dorm Monitor

They provide supervision and staff support over night in the Residence Hall.

Summer work dates include: Summer Program June 7-July 16 (except for July 2nd and 5th).
Work shifts: 11:00pm-7:00am
Compensation: $2,400 paid at the end of the work term.

*Preferred selected candidates should have a background in housing and residence life or certified Georgia POST.

Certified Secondary Level Instructors will be teaching math, language arts, or foreign language classes for the Upward Bound Summer Program.

Summer work dates include: June 7-July 16 (except for July 2nd and 5th).
Work shifts: TBD
Compensation: Based on experience

VSU Faculty who teach math, science, language arts, or a foreign language. These faculty members will create a lab in their subject that reinforces what is being taught by the daily program instructors.
