Ms. Allison Curington

Director of Field Instruction
Email: amcuring@valdosta.edu
Division of Social Work

Allison attended Wesleyan College as an undergraduate where she received a bachelor degree in Psychology. She graduated from VSU with a Masters Degree in Social Work. For almost 4 years she worked in the school system as a social worker and then moved into working with adoptions as well as contracting with mental health. In February 2001, she was hired as the Director of Field Instruction for the Division of Social Work at VSU. Allison works very close with students as they enter their internships in social work. It is a demanding yet rewarding job to watch students grow into professionals that strive to advocate for and nurture aspects such as, equality, acceptance, diversity, understanding of differences, as well as social work knowledge, skills, and values.

Diversity Quote:
“Understanding and appreciating Diversity is something that is not only of professional importance but also something that I strive to nurture personally. It is my hope that within the VSU community and the larger Valdosta area that diversity can be seen as assets rather than liabilities. However, to first understand and appreciate diversity we have to be willing to understand and appreciate ourselves...both the light and the dark.”
