Excellence Award winner Sharon Butcher is convinced that customer service begins with a genuine desire to help others that is strengthened with respect and fueled by honesty. Her father taught her that.

Faculty Seed Grant DEADLINE
Don't Miss Out! September 15
The deadline to submit proposals for the new Faculty Research Seed Grant (FRSG) program is Wednesday, Sept. 15. The FRSG is a competitive internal funding program to assist early-stage scholars in establishing themselves as independent investigators or artists and aid seasoned researchers in exploring new avenues of inquiry.
Under the new competitive program — which is administered by the Office of Sponsored Programs & Research Administration — maximum award size has been increased to $5,000 for an individual investigator and $7,500 for collaborations. A total of $100,000 is available to faculty in FY 2010-2011. Two competitions will be held annually, one in each semester.

Whitewater Rafting: Aug. 28-29
Feel the waves in your face and the excitement of the roaring river as you raft in Tennessee this weekend, August 28-29. The adventurous group will tent camp at a nearby state park.
Trip costs ($35 for students, $45 for faculty/staff) include transportation from VSU, camping fees and equipment. Food is not provided.
Can't make this trip? CORE will make a return visit to the rapids the weekends of September 11-12 and 18-19.
