Graduate Assistantships with Athletic Bands / Bands
2013 - 2014 Academic Year
2 Positions: Percussion and Brass/Woodwind
Graduate teaching assistantship with the Valdosta State University Athletic Bands (Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band and VSU Basketball Pep-Band) and concert ensembles. Position is renewable for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Responsibilities:
Assistance with the athletic band program. Possible responsibilities include: Drill writing, arranging, and administration; Lead full rehearsal or sectionals if called upon; Assist, rehearse, and conduct Basketball pep-band at various university and athletic events; Recruiting for athletic bands. Percussion graduate assistant will help coordinate all marching band percussion activities in addition to some of the responsibilities listed above. Other duties might include assistance with the music department wind band program.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in music education or music performance
Admission to the Valdosta State University Graduate School
Letter of Application
Successful interview/audition
Stipend:
Athletic Band assistantships provide an annual stipend of $7000 (with the possibility of an additional smaller amount for summer activities), and a full waiver of tuition costs (in-state or out-of-state).
Degrees offered:
Master of Music Education or Master of Music Performance (with an emphasis in applied performance or conducting)
