BACHELOR OF MUSIC WITH A MAJOR IN MUSIC EDUCATION
The Bachelor of Music with a major in music education is a 132-hour degree program designed to enable students to develop the range of knowledge, skills, and
competencies expected of those holding a professional baccalaureate degree in music
education. This degree leads to NT-4 Certification for grades P-12. Students must be
admitted to the Teacher Education program in the College of Education prior to enrolling in professional sequence courses: MUSC 3650, MUE 3600, MUE 4600, MUE 4610.
Advising of students pursuing this program is done in the Department of Music by
departmental faculty. However, admission to the Teacher Education program and arrangements for Pre-service Field Experience and Student Teaching are made through the
Office of the Dean of the College of Education. Students must meet all requirements
established by the College of Education and the College of the Arts as published in this
catalog. These include passage of the Music Education barrier and admission to the
Teacher Education Program of the College of Education.
