You will find print reference sources in both the main reference collection and the "reference alcove." Please ask the Reference Librarian on duty at the reference desk for assistance in finding materials.
Children’s books are located on the southeast side of the 3rd floor of the library addition, in the atrium. At Odum Library, all children’s books are prefaced with the call number LZ. This call number simply indicates the item is a children’s book. A “second” call number follows the LZ. It indicates the actual subject of the item.
At the Odum Library we use only LC classification. Dewey numbers may be used by your school media center or public library.

Literature is located in the LZ PZ’s:
General LZ PZ 7
Fairy Tales LZ PZ 8
Stories in Rhyme/Poetry LZ PZ 8.3
In the PZ’s, for each major category books are arranged alphabetically by author.
For example, books by Eric Carle begin with the call number PZ7.C21476. The “PZ 7” places it in general literature. The “C” and the number stand for “Carle” and help to locate the book alphabetically in the correct location.
