GALILEO Toolbar GALILEO Toolbar

The GALILEO Toolbar is a browser plugin for the Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers from LibX that provides direct access to library's resources.

The browser plugin toolbar provides immediate search access to many different GALILEO resources, without visiting the Library's web site, including but not limited to:

  • EBSCO Databases
  • Encyclopedia Britannica
  • Magazines and Journals
  • Nearby Libraries

Download the GALILEO Toolbar. You many want to watch this You tube video on "Loading the GALILEO Toolbar" (5:10), before grabbing the toolbar.  Among other things, the video explains how you'll need the VSU GALILEO password to access GALILEO when outside of the VSU network at home or otherwise off campus at your office or at some other WiFi hotspot.

See the GALILEO Toolbar FAQ's, if you have more questions or concerns about the GALILEO Toolbar.

Right-Click Context Menu Search Options

Once the GALILEO Toolbar is installed, searching is as easy as highlighting. Just highlight terms or phrases on any browser page and right-click to produce a context sensitive menu of search options.

GALILEO Toolbar Highlight Search

The right-click context menu will enable you to search based on terms such as:

  • Titles
  • Author Names
  • Standard Numbers, such as an ISBN or ISSN
If for some reason it became necessary, the browser plugin can be disabled or uninstalled.
