Turning off 2-sided, Double-sided, duplex printing

Step 1:

2-sided, double-sided, or duplex printing is the established default on all library computers and refers to a feature of modern printers that allows them to print on both sides of a sheet of paper. If you do not want to print on both sides of a sheet a paper, 1-Sided Print must be enabled on the computer before the print job is sent to the printer.  Each time a lab computer is turned on, it is set back to the default duplex setting of 2-Sided Print, meaning that the document will be printed to both sides of the sheet.

In the application, select Print.

Select Print

Step 2:

Then, click the Properties or Preferences button.

Note: In some applications, this button will be replaced with a Preferences button that performs the same function.

Click properties or preferences

Step 3:

In the 2-Sided Printing drop-down menu, select the appropriate option:

  • 1-Sided Print - This option disables the duplex feature. The result is that only one side of the sheet will be printed to.

  • 2-Sided Print - This option allows you to print on both sides of the sheet. If these pages are then bound together, the document will open in the same manner as a magazine.

  • 2-Sided Print, Flip on Short Edge - This option allows you to print on both sides of the sheet. If these pages are then bound together, the document will open in the same manner as a writing tablet.

When you have adjusted the duplex settings, click the OK button. Then, you may proceed with printing your document.

Under 2-Sided Printing, choose the correct option for what is required.
