Materials Ordered & received

Materials ordered

When books and other materials are ordered, a catalog record appears in the GIL Catalog showing the date of order.  You can check the New Titles in GIL@VSU for recent orders by selecting the location "In Process - Acquisitions Unit". Materials may be received in the acquisitions department within days of placing an order, however, some materials may take several months to be received based on their availability.

Materials received

Once the materials are received in the acquisitions department the message in the GIL Catalog changes from 'on order' to 'received.' Materials are then cataloged and placed on the shelf.  The acquisitions department then returns the request form to the department coordinator. The call number assigned to the book will be on the card to assist in locating the book in the library.  Alternatively you might want to check the New Titles in GIL@VSU for recent library acquisitions.

Rush request for materials received

Faculty and patrons may request 'Rush' processing of materials which are noted as 'received' in the GIL Catalog. To request 'Rush' processing, contact the Catalog Department or Acquisitions Department. Access services will notify patrons when the items are available for circulation.
