2011 LCOBA Study Abroad Group

SUMMER 2013 LCOBA STUDY ABROAD IN EUROPE!

JUNE 30 - AUGUST 1, 2013

Great Opportunity: The Langdale College of Business Administration has its own 4-week program, “Business in Germany” in scenic southern Germany on the Rhine River. It is on the campus of Karlsruhe University of Applied Science in Baden-Wurttemberg, a region which borders France, Switzerland and Austria. The geographic location (in the proximity of Strasbourg, France) is ideal for travel throughout Europe. This will be the fifth annual VSU business program; it has a proven track record!

The cost of $3,600 includes an 8-day Eurail Pass for up to four extended weekends of travel in Europe, rail transportation from the Frankfurt airport to the host city of Karlsruhe with unlimited local public transportation there, lodging and breakfast in Frankfurt before the return trip home, primary health care insurance, transportation to several all-day industrial field trips and access to the host university’s computer network.

Description:  Participants fly from Atlanta directly to Frankfurt on Lufthansa Airlines, then by high speed train to Karlsruhe and lodging at the on-campus hostel ( www.Jugendherberge-karlsruhe.de ) at the University of Applied Sciences. The first few days include guided tours, a reception at City Hall by the Mayor, short regional excursions, and one formal session before the first weekend arrives for optional sightseeing travel. For three weeks, students attend classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with a field trip on each Wednesday which is built into the curriculum. An optional 2 or 3 credit hour German Language & Culture class is available which has proven to be very popular. Students select two courses ranging from 5 to 6 total credit hours.

Pictures:  There are two videos from previous programs posted on this website.  Viewers can get an idea of the general atmosphere plus some good examples of the extended sightseeing weekend travel which has been accomplished by some participants over the years. The 8-day Eurail pass is an especially valuable feature of the program.

Testimonials:  Administrators can arrange to have potential applicants meet with recent LCOBA study abroad participants who will be glad to share their experiences.

Parents:  Leaders will also be happy to communicate directly with parents about study abroad opportunities.
