Workstation and workgroup services
Information Technology's Workgroup Services provides server-side planning, development, implementation and support for most of VSU's Novell and Windows environments.
Workgroup Services plays a vital role in the development of our soon-to-be "single sign-on" (SSO) environment. In this environment, each current email user (all faculty, staff and students) will have an account and password on the Active Directory tree VSU. Everyone's email username & password will be the same across all systems.
Workgroups' largest role in SSO has been developing the accessibility of any users' files from both on campus and in the near future, access to those files from anywhere on the Internet.
Having Novell login problems? Techs definitely need to try some of these troubleshooting methods.
-Further Development of the new VSU Active Directory tree (sso)
-Server consolidation planning and preparation
-Development of tools for managing a much larger user base
Things to Expect
-Implementation of VSU AD tree and multiple clustered servers for file and printer sharing
-Each user will get minimum of 1GB of personal file storage
-Development of decentralized management tools
