Mypages Server
The Mypages server is at http://mypages.valdosta.edu. Users mypages websites will be: http://mypages.valdosta.edu/username where "username" is your Active Directory username login. Go here for more information on Active Directory.
With this server you do not have to worry about having a public_html directory.
Main Server
| Student accounts are created with the public_html directory already in place as of August 2000. Older student accounts, faculty, and staff users will need to have this special directory created. Departments and organizations should request the Webmaster to reserve web site space. FrontPage and Netscape Composer users only need to know the special string for FTP. |
The VSU web server at http://www.valdosta.edu/ is programmed to look for the directory "public_html" in your home directory whenever it is requested to serve your URL of the form http://www.valdosta.edu/~username where "username" is your VSU Email account username login.
With your FTP client look to see if you have a directory named "public_html". If it already exists, then simply enter that directory and follow the directions for the FTP Client you are using (see Setting up FTP).
If it does not exist, then use the icon or command to create a new directory. Name the directory "public_html".
Contact Web Services if you do not have this folder created and are unable to create it.
