2012 IT spring technician conference

The 2012 IT Spring Technician Conference was held on Saturday, April 14 in the Odum Library Auditorium. The theme for this year's conference was: Constant Improvement.

Corey Wasley, IT Student Employment Coordinator began the conference discussing changes to the policies and procedures and the increase of 37.8% of student technician hires over the past year. Joe Newton, Information Technology Director then spoke on the importance of constantly improving in IT. The IT Assistant Directors - Allen DeVane (Client Support Services), Ike Barton (Enterprise Infrastructure Services), Lisa Baldwin (Enterprise Application Services) and Bill Moore (Information Security) each spoke on their respective areas. CSS Coordinators, Kathy Sundin, Brian Anderson, Sterlin Sanders and Benjamin Li also addressed the technicians and explained the improvements in their respective areas. Wade Bugby also spoke of the many changes in the Asset Management area. Benjamin Li then reported on the closed service requests.

Four technicians were recognized for receiving "I Caught You Caring Cards" - Cameron Thomson, Shenica Lamb, Jovan Van Dyke and Mark Mohrfeld. Also, a special thank you to Cameron Thomson for 5 years of service and Ashley Williams for 6.5 years of service. The 2011-2012 Student Technician Award Recipients were announced: Mark Mohrfeld - Helpdesk, Fania Braaf- Classroom Support, Kyle Culpepper - Desktop Support/Training & Communications and Theron Cauley - Desktop Support. Congratulations to all and thank you for all your hard work over the last year.
