Founded in 1906, Valdosta State University is a coeducational, regional University of the University System of Georgia. Valdosta State is fully accredited to award associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in many fields and a doctorate in the field of education. VSU offers over 90 degree programs of study and a curriculum that will prepare you for today’s constantly changing work environment. VSU specializes in meeting the needs of individual students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 21:1. VSU is small enough to provide the personal attention you expect in a selective private college yet big enough to odder the outstanding faculty, extensive academic programs, and social opportunities of a major university. Every course is taught by experienced professors with world class credentials. Professors welcome the opportunity to talk to you about career opportunities, give advice, engage you in research, or even help you find a tutor if you need assistance. VSU considers the diversity of its student among its greatest assets. Students from every county in Georgia, 47 states, and 68 countries attend VSU. Valdosta State University is located in Valdosta, Georgia, twenty miles above the Florida border. The university is easily accessible from Interstate 75 for students from South Florida, North Georgia, and beyond. VSU has a Spanish Mission - style campus and it is nationally recognized for its exceptional beauty and award-winning design.
Valdosta, a city of 50,000 residents, is located in South Georgia, within driving distance from Atlanta, beautiful beaches, and Orlando, Florida, home of Walt Disney World. Residents enjoy frequent trips to nearby beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. The mild climate, friendly people, and natural beauty make Valdosta a great place to attend college.

The University buildings are located on a spacious and beautifully landscaped
campus with an abundance of azaleas, camellias, pines, dogwoods, and palm trees. The campus includes distinctive buildings with the red-tiled roofs, stucco walls, and several fountains. VSU currently has 39 air-conditioned buildings. You’ll find first-rate classrooms and laboratories, state-of-the-art computer facilities, and modern residence halls. Recently completed constructions include the Odum Library Extension, the Biology/Chemistry Building, the Communication Disorders Building, and the Campus Recreation Center which has an indoor pool, racquetball courts, basketball courts, fitness rooms, weight rooms, and features a climbing wall.

If you need extra help in your essential skills classes, don’t worry, we have a Student Success Center! Tutoring laboratories are equipped with computers and software specifically designed for improving skills in problem areas. The Student Success Center is staffed by specially trained full-time professors and qualified student tutors who have your academic success as their mission.
VSU’s faculty and students utilize over 2,800 computer workstations for easy access to the Internet, World Wide Web, e-mail, and other resources. Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine recently ranked Valdosta State one of the “top 100 most wired colleges” in the Nation. All students can have an e-mail account which is free of charge and all student residence hall rooms have high-speed wireless access to the Internet. VSU currently maintains over 7000 active student accounts. Distance Learning, electronic classrooms, 29 computer labs, and multi-media instruction have become an integral part of VSU’s technology-based academic delivery system. Self registration for classes is available to all students via telephone and PCs in campus labs. Eight Touchnet kiosk stations are conveniently located so that students can access, at any time, their academic records, class schedule, and current billing information. These features enhance VSU’s “virtual” campus environment.
