Account Privacy Policies

Summary

The Information Technology Helpdesk can only provide information related to a VSU electronic account directly to the account owner. Likewise, we can only make modifications to these accounts at the direct request of the account owner.

We cannot make exceptions, regardless of the client's relationship to the account owner.

Detail

The Information Technology Helpdesk is bound by the policies set forth in the VSU Information Resources Acceptable Use Policy and the VSU Information Security Policy as well as a number of state and federal laws to only provide account information or assistance to the owner of the account. This encompasses accounts such as, but is not limited to:

  • Blazenet (E-mail)
  • WebCT (Online Classes)
  • FTP (Personal Web Page)
  • Hallnet (Wireless Network)

If you are not the account owner, please ask the account owner to contact us directly at 229-245-4357 for assistance. We are open during the following operating hours:

Monday through Thursday  from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The policies above likewise require the Helpdesk to promptly report any unauthorized access attempts, including client attempts to request information or assistance for an account they do not own, to the Director of Information Technology so that action may be taken, as the account owner is personally responsible for all access, either authorized or unauthorized, to their VSU accounts.
