STATUS (4/6/2011): Mail Connectivity and Delays (Closed)
Description
On 4/1/2011 approximately 9:00am, we received reports of two separate, but related issues:
(A) Some, but not all users have lost the ability to connect to Windows Live with installed e-mail clients such as:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Entourage
- Apple Mail
- Various mobile phone mail applications
(B) Some, but not all users have experienced delays in e-mail delivery.
At this time, Microsoft has not provided us with time line for resolution of the issue. However, you can follow an updated report of the status of the issue by taking the following steps:
- Go to Microsoft's Outlook Live Answers Website.
- Sign in with your Windows Live account.
- Click on the Service Status tab.
- Click on the RSS button.
- Click on the link for Incident IH015 for problem (A) or Incident IG448 for problem (B) listed above.
We apologize for the loss of productivity.
Updates
4/4/2011 10:55 PM - Microsoft attempted to deploy a fix for the issue on their server after investigating its cause. However, this fix was unsuccessful.
Temporary Fixes
While Microsoft is working on resolving this issue, users will be still able to log in on the Windows Live Web site (http://www.outlook.com/valdosta.edu) in order send and receive e-mails.
Resolution
4/6/2011 6:57 PM - Microsoft reports that issue (B) listed above has been resolved.
