Disabling the Autoplay Feature in Windows XP

Step 1:

Press the Window and R key together to bring up the Run window.

Press Window and r keys, open run window

 

Step 2:

Type gpedit.msc in the Open: box and click OK.

Type gpedit.msc, click ok

 

Step 3:

Double-click Computer Configuration.

Double-click Computer Configuration

 

Step 4:

Now, double-click Administrative Templates.

Double-click Administrative Templates

 

Step 5:

Next double-click Windows Components.

Double-click Windows Components

 

Step 6:

Now, double-click AutoPlay Policies.

Double-click AutoPlay Policies

 

Step 7:

Next, double-click Turn off Autoplay.

Double-click Turn off Autoplay

 

Step 8:

In order to disable Autoplay, click the Enabled radio button, you may then choose if you want to disable it for all drives, or just specific ones.

Select Enabled

 

Step 9:

Click OK.

Click OK
