enabling autoprotect

AutoProtect is a security feature built into VMware Fusion that automatically creates snapshots of the virtual machine on a timed basis. We strongly recommend that you enable this feature, as snapshots are backups that you can be used to restore your virtual machine if you begin to encounter technical problems.

Step 1:

Click on the VMware Fusion icon in the dock.

Click VMWare Fusion

If the VMware Fusion icon is not in the dock, click on the Finder icon in the dock.

Click Finder

Then, click Applications in the left sidebar.

Finally, double-click the VMware Fusion icon in the right window.

Step 2:

After VMware Fusion has started, click on the name of the virtual machine you wish to enable AutoProtect for.

Then, click on Settings near the bottom of the VMware Fusion screen.

Select the VM and Click Settings

Step 3:

Click the AutoProtect icon near the middle of the bottom of window.

Click on autoprotect

Step 4:

Make sure the checkbox in front of Enable AutoProtect is checked.

Then, in the Take a new AutoProtect snapshot every drop-down menu, select Day.

Finally, in the Keep up to field, enter 7. This will create a backup once per week. Adjust this field if you wish to have backups created more frequently.
