Automatic Update Notifications

After releasing Windows to the public, Microsoft has continued to update the the product in order to:

  • Fix errors that users have encountered
  • Provide new and updated features
  • Ensure maximum compatibility with new hardware and software
  • Address security vulnerabilities in the operating system

This guide is designed to help you understand the prompts you may receive while LANDesk is updating your computer.

Step 1:

LANDesk will usually begin downloading an update without needing any prompt from the user. Once a download has finished you will receive a prompt similar to the following image to notify you of the update. You may choose to Snooze the update if you are working on the system and do not have time for the interruption. Otherwise choose Deploy now to begin the update. If neither option is chosen the update will occur anyway after the countdown timer at the bottom of the window has run out.

Select snooze or deploy now

Step 2:

After the installation has finished you may be prompted to reboot your computer. If you wish to do so immediately select the Reboot now button. You will have one hour before the coutdown timer ends and it automatically reboots. If you wish to wait for a later time select the Snooze button and you will be reminded again one hour later(please not that you can only take this option twice).
