Installing System Updates

Step 1:

When system updates are available for your computer, you should see an icon that resembles a paper box with a green arrow. Double-click this icon.

Double-click the Green Arrow

 

Step 2:

You should see a prompt notifying you that Valdosta State University is protecting your computer.

NOTE: If you see a different prompt, DO NOT PROCEED, as this could be a hoax. Instead, please contact the Helpdesk immediately at 229-245-4357 or send an e-mail to helpdesk@valdosta.edu.

If you do see this prompt, make sure the radio button in front of Express (Recommended) is marked.

Then, click the Install button.

Verify the prompt is not a hoax, then install

 

Step 3:

You should see a notification balloon showing that software updates are being installed on your computer.

Please be patient, as this process may take several minutes.

Wait while installation proceeds

 

Step 4:

After the installation process is complete, if the computer requires a restart, the arrow over the paper box icon will turn red. At this point, please restart your computer.
