Outstanding College of the Arts Award Winner
Blake Lane
Blake has been a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Eta Theta Kappa Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Art Collection Committee while attending Valdosta State University. He has received many honors and accomplishments such as; the Hope Scholarship, Dean’s List, Smith/Northview Exhibition Participant, Think Space Senior Exhibition Participant, Sherwin- Williams Students Competition Participant, Speaker at 10th Annual Georgia Art History Forum, IDEC Student Competition Participant, PAVE Student Competition Participant, Art Honorary Scholarship and President’s Television Series. In Blake’s spare time he enjoys reading, staying active, tennis, studying art. I also have a thirst for enhancing my knowledge for architecture and interior design. Blake plans to attend graduate school at the University of Cincinnati and working towards a Master’s of Science of Architecture.
University Honors Program's Bartram Award for Intellectual Exploration
Katherine Wagnon
Katherine is a member of many student organizations on the campus of Valdosta State University such as; Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Alpha Chi, VSU Honors program, Omicron Delta Kappa, Golden Key International Honor Society, National member of Who’s Who Among College Students, Alpha Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, and the VSU Judicial Board. Her awards and accomplishments include; the William Bartram Award for Intellectual Exploration, William M. Morrow Award for Department of Political Science and the Political Science Best Paper Award. Her hobbies include; reading and traveling. She also plans to go to law school for environmental law.
Outstanding Student in Arts & Sciences
Jaimie Squardo
Jaimie is involved on campus with Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, and the Honors Program. She has received many awards and accomplishments such as; Deans List Fall 2007-Present, Phi Alpha Theta Award spring 2010, William M. Gabard Scholarship Spring 2010, Melvene D. Hardee Scholarship. She has also presented at The Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference and Council on Undergraduate Research Symposium. Furthermore, Jaime has completed the 2009 Spring Honors Program. Her hobbies include, reading, traveling, baking, and dabbling in learning other languages and musical instruments. Her future career plans are to do research and teach at the college level and to do museum work as well.
Outstanding Langdale College of Business Senior Award
Gabriel Costa
Gabriele is an International Student from Italy. She is a member of many student organizations on Valdosta State University such as; Omicron Delta Kappa, National Leadership Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta, National Academic Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Chi, English Honor Society, Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Her future plans are to move back to Europe and start a career in Hotel Management.
College of Education's Highest Academic Achievement Award
Alyssa Jacobson
Alyssa is a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and the Georgia Speech Language Hearing Association. She has received several awards and honors while attending Valdosta State University including: The Valdosta Junior Service League Scholarship, Dean’s list, Frances Wood Wilson Scholarship and was a member of the Quality Enhancement Plan. Alyssa enjoys traveling, and exploring the outdoors; and her future plans include attend the University of Louisiana Lafayette to earn a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
The College of Nursing's Outstanding Senior Nursing Student Award
Niderah Middleton
Niderah is a member of; Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Alpha Chi National Honor Society. She has been awarded the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship. Her hobbies include; fitness activities, swimming, dancing, computers, reading and traveling. Niderah plans to obtain her Master’s Degree and becoming a Pediatric or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She also wants to join the Military someday as a nurse, traveling and working abroad.
Master of Library and Information Science’s George Gaumond Award
Virginia Feher
Virginia is a distance Ed student. Her awards and accomplishments include; Blackwell’s Book Services Award, Academic Library Division of the Georgia Library Association/ Georgia Chapter of ACRL, Georgia Council of Media Organizations 2009 Conference and the Georgia Library Association Paraprofessional Division Award, 2009. Her future plans include obtaining a professional librarian position at an academic library.
The Division of Aerospace Studies' Most Outstanding AS300 Cadet Award
Ben Collier
Ben is involved with the Air Force ROTC, Baptist Collegiate Ministry and The Honors Society. He has achieved many honors and accomplishments while attending Valdosta State University. He has been put on the Dean’s List. Blake has earned the AS300 of the Year, Warrior spirit Award, Warrior Flight Award, Physical Fitness Award and was selected to go back to Field Training as a Combatives Instructor. Ben’s hobbies include; biking, reading and wrestling. He plans on commission upon graduation as a second Lieutenant as an Air Force Special Investigator. Ben also plans to spend the next thirty years enjoying the adventures the Air Force will send him on.
The Division of Athletics' Male Student Academic Athlete of the Year
Otto Lenhart
Otto is a member of the VSU Tennis Team, the Blazer Athletic Student Advising committee, the Langdale College of Business Administration Student Advisory Council and the membership in the Business Honor Society (Betta Gamma Sigma). He has earned the scholarship to travel to IMA Student Leadership Conference in Anaheim. His hobbies include playing soccer, basketball, watching movies and NBA games, reading good books. Otto’s future plans include entering the PH.D. In Economics program at Emory University in Atlanta this Fall and wants to work for an Economic Research Institute after that.
The Division of Athletic's Female Student Academic Athlete of the Year
Stephanie Boulware
Stephanie is involved with many student organizations on campus; such as Valdosta State Cheerleading All-Girl Squad, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Golden Key Club, Kappa Delta Pi, Omicron Delta Phi. While attending Valdosta State University she has received Top Veteran Cheerleader 2010 and also has been an Academic Banquet Participant in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends, running, arts and crafts, eating ice cream, and watching the cartoon Spongebob Squarepants in Spanish. She plans to serve the lives of middle grade students by sparking their motivation to learn more about themselves and the world around them.

Keri Long
Keri is involved in my different student organizations on campus such as; Valdosta State University Presidential Ambassadors, Gold Key International Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Chi Honor, Sigma Alpha Chi Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and Intramural Sports. She has achieved the following honors and achievements; Outstanding Geosciences Student Award, Sally Hutchinson Memorial Academic Scholarship, Ty Cobb Academic Scholarship, Colquitt EMC Academic Scholarship. Keri enjoys playing sports, traveling and reading in her spare time. Her future plans include to start a career in the medical field by seeking a Master’s Degree in Physicians’ Assistant Studies.

Maheera Farsi
Maheera is involved in several campus organizations including Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, Phi Kappa Phi, and Pi Mu Epsilon. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude with the highest average in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her hobbies include traveling, going to the gym and running outdoor trails. Maheera’s future plans are to attend medical school in the Fall.

Her hobbies include; conducting research, reading, photography and playing video games.; and her future plans are to attend University of Alabama for graduate school in experimental/ cognitive psychology.

Matthew Schmidt
Matthew is the President of the Honors Student Association also is the associate chief Justice of the Student Government Association Judicial Board. Matthew is also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Society of Physics Students. He has received the Claire Philips Martin Scholarship, William Bartram award for Intellectual Exploration and the Hugh C. Bailey scholarship for achievement in Honors. Matthew was also a nominee for the Blazer leadership award. His hobbies include; piano, intramural sports and Tetris. He also plans to attend Duke University’s Graduate school and become a Medical Physicist.
