The Council on Staff Affairs met in Odum Library Meeting Room, = Tuesday,=20 November 2, 1993=20

Present: Vanessa Brunston, Ude Eko (SGA), Inman Grimsley, Ann = Holland,=20 Charles Holsendolph, Mike Jones, Russ Mast, John Miller, Bubba Nolan, = Donna=20 Nolan, Sue Teel, and Karrie Yeatman.=20

  1. President Donna Nolan called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.=20

  2. Minutes of the October 5, 1993 meeting were approved.=20

  3. Treasurer's report a balance of $2406.22 - accepted.=20

  4. President Donna Nolan reported the following matters-of-interest = from the=20 Administrative Council Meeting 11/2/93:=20

    a) VSU vs North Alabama, Nov 6 will be a faculty and staff = appreciation=20 games, tickets half-price $3.00.=20

    b) In an effort to curb loitering after the football game the = old gym=20 and Blazer Grill will be open till 11:00 pm.=20

    c) Ude Eko will attend an SGA meeting in Athens. He was = requested to=20 include staff pay raises along with faculty pay raises as a topic at = this=20 meeting.

  5. Committee Reports:=20

    a) Communications - none=20

    b) Welfare - Bill England resigned as chairman, his replacement = will=20 come from the ranks of the committee.=20

    c) Policy - none

  6. Old Business:=20

    a) A study is underway to determine a method for selecting an = Employee=20 of the Month.=20

    b) A complete description of the health plan changes was = presented by=20 Inman Grimsley. Open enrollment is the month of November. A series = of open=20 discussions has been scheduled to be held in Odum Library for the = purpose of=20 explaining the changes.

  7. New Business:=20

    a) Donna Nolan is in receipt of a letter from Dr. Bailey which = expresses=20 his intention to support the tuition waiver when it becomes an = agenda item=20 at the Board of Regents. Donna Nolan requested that Vanessa Brunston = and Bob=20 Krawczyk (Policy Committee 92/93) compare our tuition waiver request = to that=20 made by Georgia Southern (request that is tabled at the Board of = Regents)=20 and report to COSA.=20

    b) Inman Grimsley explained the system for job classifications. = There is=20 a B-Code Directory set by the Board of Regents. Individual = institutions=20 establish job specifications based on their individual needs.=20 Re-classification requests are reviewed in the Personnel Office = during the=20 month of February.=20

    c) An agenda item for the next COSA meeting will be the wage = &=20 salary survey.
