  <LI>Treasurer's Report-No report since we have not received year end =
reports.=20
  <P></P>
  <LI>Dr. Bailey presented the Employee of the Quarter award to Ruby =
DeLaney.=20
  Eighteen other nominees were acknowledged which constitutes the =
largest list=20
  of nominations for the award. The other nominees were; Pat Jeter, =

  Cay Watson, Carolyn Shaw, Ellen Roy, Lisa Queen, Betty Cole, Sage =

  <P>Dr. Bailey took several minutes to keep the council informed about =
the=20
  science building and the tuition waiver proposal of the Board of =
Regents. It=20
  appears that some form of tuition help will be given to employees =
within a=20
  year.=20

    <LI>Parking Appeals- The parking enforcement operation is being =
reorganized=20
    to be in Auxiliary Services.=20

    <LI>Staff Development- The Advanced Directives seminar is being =
presented by=20
    Dr. Sarah Ellerbee. OIT is providing training on various software=20
    applications.=20
    <LI>Salaries Study- Information has been collected and is being =
processed.=20

  <LI>Old Business=20
  <P>No report on the Staff Recognition Luncheon.=20
  <P>The parking situation with GHP is going very well this year.=20
  <P></P>
  <LI>New Business=20
  <P>A motion was passed to merge the existing ByLaws, Parking Appeals, =
and=20
  Staff Development committees into those committees defined in the =
ByLaws. A=20
  motion to add Employee Recognition as a standing committee was passed. =
Changes=20
  to the ByLaws will be drafted by the Policy committee for the August =
meeting.=20
  Salary Study was continued as an ad hoc committee.=20
  <P>Volunteers and appointments filled the membership of the =
committees.=20
  Committee chairs will be selected and announced at the August meeting. =
The=20
  committee members tentatively are: Communications/Elections-Wanda =
DeWeese,=20
  Bill Filtz, Inman Grimsley, Tommy Moore, Paul Worth; Policy-Bill =
Bennett,=20

  <P>Herb Reinhard offered to have a Staff Recognition Day at one of the =
home=20
  games. The North Alabama game on October 5 was selected. The Welfare =
committee=20
  was appointed to get the information to employees and to promote the =
event.=20
  General admission tickets for staff will be only $2.00.=20
  <P></P>
  <LI>Other Business=20
  <P>Withholdings from paychecks, for benefits, for July and August were =

  discussed. Because there was nothing withheld from the July 5 check, =
the July=20
  19 check will be the only one in July for withholdings. This situation =
could=20
  have caused all withholding to be taken from the July 19 check. The =
Business=20
  Office staff has worked a way for the August 2 check to cover half the =
amount=20
  due in July. Withholdings on the August 16 and 30 checks will cover =
the amount=20
  due for August.=20
  <P>Giving mementoes to exiting COSA members was discussed.=20
  <P></P>
  <LI>The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 AM </LI></OL>
