The Council on Staff Affairs met in the President's Dining Room in = Palms=20 Dining Center on July 11, 1995.=20

Members Present: Bill Bennett, Joan Brooks, Chenee Chisholm, Sandra = Denson,=20 Blake Griffin, Inman Grimsley, Mike Jones, Mary Jane Keene, Bert = Rodriguez, Pat=20 Rozier, Beverly Sharpe, Paul Worth, and Jim Yates.=20

  1. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair, Sandra Denson at = 8:20 am.=20

  2. The minutes of the June 13, 1995 meeting were approved as written. =

  3. Treasurer's Report: No report.=20

  4. Committee Appointments: Board members volunteered for the = committees of=20 their choosing. The committee members are as follows:=20

    a. Welfare - Beverly Sharpe, Chair; Mike Jones, Chenee = Chisholm
    b.=20 Policy - Blake Griffin, Chair; Chenee Chisholm
    c. Communication - = Bill=20 Bennett, Paul Worth
    d. Employee Recognition - Sandra Denson, Mary = Jane=20 Keene, Inman Grimsley
    e. Parking Appeals - Joan Brooks, Jim = Yates
    f.=20 By-Laws - Blake Griffin
    g. Staff Development - Pat Rozier, Inman=20 Grimsley

  5. Old Business:=20

    a. House Bill #311: Blake Griffin introduced House Bill #311 to the = COSA.=20 It is a Bill pending in the Georgia Assembly that will allow unused = sick leave=20 to apply toward retirement. Employees under TRS with 20 or more days = of unused=20 sick leave upon retirement would be allowed to apply those sick days = toward=20 retirement. For every 20 days of unused sick leave one month's = retirement is=20 credited to the retirement account.=20

  6. New Business:=20

    a. Next meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for August 8, = 1995 at=20 8:15 am in the President's Dining Room.=20

    b. Resignation of the Secretary: Humberto Rodriguez resigned as = the=20 Secretary for COSA. Vice Chair, Sandra Denson accepted his = resignation and=20 asked new board member, Chenee Chisholm to serve as the Secretary. = Chenee=20 Chisholm accepted and is now the COSA Secretary.=20

    c. Committee Meetings: Vice Chair Denson instructed COSA = committees to=20 set up committee meetings and begin work for the new year. She also = stated=20 that COSA will accept nominations for members to committees from all = VSU=20 employees.

  7. Meeting was adjourned at 9:12 am.
