Present: Bill Bennett, Joan Brooks, Sandra Denson, Wanda DeWeese, = Bill Filtz,=20 Charles Holsendolf, Blake Griffin, Mike Jones, Mary Jane Keene, Tommy = Moore,=20 Bert Rodrigues, Pat Rozier, Beverly Sharpe, Sue Teel, Paul Worth, Jim = Yates=20

  1. Chair, Sue Teel, called the meeting to order at 8:25 AM in the = President's=20 Dining Room, Palms Dining Center.=20

  2. Minutes of the January 9 and January 31 meetings were approved.=20

  3. Treasurer's Report - Bill Bennett reported that $2344.36 was the = balance=20 as of January 31, 1996.=20

  4. Committee Reports=20

  5. Report from the Chair=20

    The holiday schedule, as presented in the memorandum from personnel = to all=20 employees, was the first choice of COSA. It is being forwarded by the=20 president for the chancellor to approve.=20

    President Bailey is reconsidering the registration day currently = set for=20 January 4, 1997.=20

    President Bailey requested more information about other = institutions using=20 a single color decal for staff and faculty before this issue can be=20 reconsidered.=20

  6. Old Business=20

    Tommy Moore accepted the position formally held by Chenee Chisholm. =

    The copy of the Sexual Harassment Policy, which was passed by the = Faculty=20 Senate, was forwarded to COSA by the Personnel Office and will be = distributed=20 to COSA members for review.=20

    A motion to pass the amendment to section II D of the by-laws was = made by=20 Beverly Sharpe with the 2nd by Blake Griffin. The amendment was = passed. A=20 vacancy is to be filled either by the next high vote received in the = previous=20 election for the position, or by appointment if the next high vote = receiver=20 can not fill the term.=20

    The amendment to section IV A of the by-laws concerning missed = meetings and=20 membership was returned to the By-Laws Committee. Language about = proxies and=20 removal from the council were to be removed.=20

    An amendment to Section IV B 2 of the by-laws to rename the = Elections=20 Committee was rejected. The council voted to change the name of the = Elections=20 Committee to Communications/Elections Committee and there would be no = change=20 of duties.=20

  7. New Business=20

    Chip Moore will be sending a notice of his resignation.=20

  8. Other Business=20

    The Kids Night Out Program being offered by Student Activities was=20 discussed. Most council members thought it would be good for this to = include=20 the children of staff even if it involved a small personal cost. It = was agreed=20 that this is a student activity and the council should not be involved = in this=20 area.=20

  9. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 AM
