re-districting: Currently Housing and Student Health Services. is part =

Student Affairs, may require a By-Laws change. or should they remain =
under=20
Business and Finance area. Both areas report to Student Affairs, but =

financial reporting aspects, the areas report to Business/Finance =

After much discussion, a motion was =
made and=20
seconded to have the Policy committee review and make=20
recommendations.
At our last conference, we discussed =
the=20
approximation of what it might cost for the expenses, shirts, printing, =
and=20
gifts, etc. We came up with a ballpark figure of $1350 that could be =
give and=20
take, just an approximation. The results of the VSU survey that the =
Training and=20
Development office did. The Top 7 for workshop/seminar were: Resolve =
Conflict,=20
Retirement, Word Stress Management, Communication Skills, Difficult =
Customers,=20
and Customer Satisfaction. That was from a list of 40 and those were the =
Top 7.=20
A survey form was setup on the webpage so that other schools could have =
some=20
input on the program topics for the conference this fall. We will get =
those=20
results at our next meeting which will follow our regular COSA meeting =
today.=20
The different committees are diligently working on their different task. =
I sent=20
and e-mail out to the COSA members asking for ideas or logos as well as =
themes=20
for the upcoming conference. I did get some feedback from it. I will be =
going to=20
Dr. Eastman's Marketing class this Thursday, February 12 to get their =
assistant=20
in helping COSA come up with a logo and them for the conference. We =
don't have=20
to use it. Just to see what ideas and suggestions they might have and we =
can=20
play around with that and I'll share that with COSA.
Bob Bell will be speaking to COSA =
this morning=20
with his desires for us to change our minds about the Christmas vacation =
schedule. The issue was discussed in the Executive Board meeting and we =
felt=20
that we voted for the university employees' best interest at that time. =
Our=20
"recommendation" was to have two mandatory days and let the option of =
the=20
departments have the other two days to set. That was our recommendation. =
We are=20
a recommending board not a policy decision-makers. This was our stance. =
Anyone=20
is invited to come to the COSA meeting to speak.
Holiday =
Schedule
Bob Bell came = to clear the air and clarify his position about the holiday vacation = schedule. He never said everyone at Plant would not be allowed to take = any vacation those two days. He has been directed that he must have = skilled trades people at work those days so everyone can not take = vacation. He will not be allowed to have just a person to answer the = telephone like many departments do at that time. He said most of the = Plant personnel preferred the mandatory 4 days. Tim Yorkey expressed that COSA submitted a recommendation to give = departments the flexibility to close the two days, at the discretion of = the department head, to make it a 4 day vacation. COSA in not a policy = making body and only makes recommendations. The administration decided = to not accept that recommendation and COSA supports that decision. If = the administration decides to require 4 days or no days COSA will = support that decision.
New Business
Parking changes: A letter/form was sent to Tim Yorkey from the =
Parking Office.=20
They are prorating parking permit fees. I verified this with Michelle =
Pritchett=20
and she said they are doing this. Faculty is paying only $45 and Staff =
is paying=20
$20. The reason: It wasn't fair to have someone hired in January to pay =
the full=20
amount. I reminded her that when we discussed this issue at our COSA =
meeting,=20
that they specifically told us told that there would be no prorating and =
when I=20
verified this information a month ago, as of January 1, they are =
prorating. I=20
have copies of the form if anyone wishes to verify the information. =
Question: Is Parking Office = prorating for those=20 who leave?=20
Answer: According to the form, you =
will pay the=20
entire amount if termination is applied.
After much discussion, it was =
decided to=20
re-invite Michelle Pritchett back to COSA meeting March 10 Meeting to =
re-address=20
parking policies changes.

The Student Health Services (Farber =
Infirmary)=20
will have a Diabetes/Cholesterol Screening test on Friday, February 13, =

from 8:00am until 10:00am. In order for the screening to be =
effective, you=20
must not have anything to eat or drink 8 hours prior to testing. =
Cost of=20
the Screening test will be $5.00 to VSU Staff/Faculty and free to VSU =
students.=20
Payment will be taken at Student Health Services.
