The Council on Staff Affairs met in the Odum Library Meeting Room, =
Tuesday,=20
December 7, 1993, 2:30 p.m.=20
Present: Vanessa Brunston, Sammy Dees (for Bob Krawczyk), Juanita =
Faircloth,=20
Inman Grimsley, Ann Holland, Carl James, Mike Jones, Russ Mast, John =
Miller,=20
Bubba Nolan, Donna Nolan, Sue Teel, and Karrie Yeatman.=20
- President Donna Nolan called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.=20
- Minutes of November 2, 1993 were approved as corrected.=20
- Treasurer's report of $2263.00 - accepted.=20
- Committee reports:
- Executive - Vice Chairperson, Karrie Yeatman reported that at =
the=20
Administrative Council meeting today, the 3 year calendar was =
approved. It=20
must now be approved by the Faculty Senate.=20
- Communications - none=20
- Policy - none=20
- Welfare - Bubba Nolan was elected chairperson. He presented the=20
committees recommendation for Employee Recognition. We appreciate =
the fine=20
work the committee has put into this recognition program. It was =
agreed to=20
form a sub-committee to continue working on a form/criteria for =
nominations.=20
Chairperson Donna Nolan will ask several non-board members to serve =
on this=20
committee to help with finalizing criteria for employee recognition. =
- Chairperson Donna Nolan met with President Bailey. He expressed =
that COSA,=20
an Advisory Committee, is welcome anytime.=20
- Old Business See Welfare Committee report above.=20
- New Business=20
- a) COSA Statutes and By-Laws have been included in the revised =
VSU=20
Statutes. COSA is recognized as an associate non-voting member of =
the=20
Faculty Senate.=20
- b) Wage Survey - this was discussed at length by the Board. =
Chairperson=20
Nolan will write a letter to ask/encourage the President and others =
involved=20
to increase staff salaries as much as possible. It was also noted =
with the=20
increased enrollment that more/new staff are needed to ease the =
workload.=20
- c) COSA Board members wish for each of you a Merry Christmas and =
Happy=20
New Year.
