Minutes, April 5, 1993

The Council on Staff Affairs met in Pound Hall, Room #106, Monday, = April 5,=20 1993.=20

Present: Norma Barr, Vanessa Brunston, Juanita Faircloth, Ann = Holland, Robert=20 Lee, Russ Mast, John Miller, Steve Roberts, and Karrie Yeatman.=20

AGENDA=20

  1. President Russ Mast called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.=20

  2. Minutes of the March 1, 1993 were approved as distributed.=20

  3. Committee Reports were:=20

    a) Executive Committee - See Item 4.=20

    b) Communications Committee - Steve Roberts reported the = election for=20 new board members has been set for Thursday, April 29th.=20

    c) Welfare Committee - See Item 5.=20

    d) Policy Committee - Karrie Yeatman - No Report.

  4. Reports from the Chairperson:=20

    a) When VSC achieves university status, the name will change to = VALDOSTA=20 STATE UNIVERSITY.=20

    b) A University Celebration/Convocation will be held on June = 30th and=20 July 1st.=20

  5. Old Business:=20

    a) A copy of the memo from the Welfare Committee regarding = Faculty and=20 Staff Tuition Waiver was handed out to the Board members. A motion = passed to=20 forward this proposal to Dr. Bailey.

  6. New Business:=20

    a) COSA Board voted for the Vision Care Plan. This would enable = VSC=20 employees and dependents to receive a discount from Eye Associates = of=20 Valdosta.=20

    b) Ann Holland reported on Staff Governance of E-Mail or = Academic=20 Computing Services. Anyone connected to the network or with a modem = can log=20 into E-Mail. Information can be sent or received from all over the = world.=20

    c) Alcohol Ban - This was discussed and the Board decided it = would be=20 best to further study the matter regarding policies, legalities, = etc.=20

  7. Special Order of the Day:=20

    Russ passed out information on a Staff Golf Tournament. This will = be=20 reported on with more details at a later meeting.=20

  8. Adjournment:=20

    The meeting adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
