Creative Explorations


Painting in Oils

Oil paint, an incredibly forgiving medium, is easy to work with and lots of fun. Learn the basics of materials and techniques to create Alla Prima (wet on wet) style oil paintings. Complete a minimum of two paintings in class and gain the fundamental skills to continue on your artistic journey. Basic drawing skills are helpful but not required. Please bring several sketches that you would like to turn into paintings.

Introduction to Wirework

Add interest and value to your jewelry creations with basic wirework techniques. Make a beaded link bracelet with an integrated hook and eye clasp, drop earrings with hand-crafted ear wires, several clasps, headpins, and a pendant. Tools and materials will be provided. Beautiful Braiding with Kumihimo

Looking for a unique Mother's Day gift that says, "I think you're special"? Why not make Mom a stunning kumihimo necklace? Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braiding art used to create beautiful cords from fibers or fibers and beads. Learn to braid these cords and turn them into a necklace by adding a clasp and pendant. Tools and materials will be provided. Register early! Class is limited to 10 participants.

The world of wine can seem intimidating, but it doesn't have to be! Uncork the mystery of wine-speak and educate your palate as you explore select California wines. In one enjoyable evening you will learn about grape varieties and practice the wine-tasting ritual, explore tips for wine selection and food pairings with both red and white wines, and discover interesting facts about American wine history.

Introduction to Reiki 

Explore the history of the Usui system of Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) - Japanese for Universal Life Energy - and the different ways it has been used since Dr. Mikao Usui developed it more than 100 years ago. Learn how you can use this energy in your daily life and share Reiki energy with others. Reiki techniques will be demonstrated and you will have the opportunity to experience what a Reiki treatment feels like. You will also learn about other similar energy systems.

Massage for Two

Put your hectic life on pause and discover the joy of massage! Practice basic massage techniques that you can use with your partner, friend, or family member to de-stress and soothe your mind and body. Learn to massage hands, feet, and face in a safe and relaxed setting. Discover techniques to relieve back and shoulder discomfort. Even a short massage session incorporated into you weekly routine can create wonderful, soothing experiences that you will appreciate for years to come.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket and two pillows to class. A yoga mat is optional. Couples and any other pairs of friends are welcome.

Ballroom 101

Looking for a cure for two left feet? Learn the basics of Waltz and Swing in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Practice posture, leading, and following as you learn basic dance patterns and gain confidence to step out on the dance floor at parties, weddings, and other social events. Singles are welcome but we can't guarantee a partner for you. Wear leather-soled shoes (no sneakers, please.)
