Women and Gender Studies in Nicaragua: Women in the Revolution

$150 - Deposit,  February 4, 2013

Come to the lush, beautiful tropics and learn Spanish or Study Women in the Revolution for up to 7 hours of credit! All financial aid including Pell and HOPE can be applied.

Spend 4 weeks studying in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. You will have the opportunity to visit Managua, Leon, Granada, Masaya, Isla de Ometepe, El Chile community, La Pita community, Esteli, and Jinotega (Selva Negra). The primary focus of this program is to engage students in the lives of Nicaraguan women. Talking with women about their societal roles and taking field trips to see different ways that they live will help students understand feminism in the context of a developing country and to become a more engaged citizen in the world community.

When: June 1 -30, 2013

Cost: $2999.00 (best priced study abroad available)

APPLICATION

This trip will include round trip Air travel, lodging, meals, ground transportation, health insurance, field trips, socio-cultural activities, excursions to Leon, Granada and Isa De Ometepe.

Areas you will be able to earn 1-7 college credits will be int he Women's and Gender Studies Program, Modern Classical Languages (Spanish) and Perspectives.
