Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan
The Bridging Scholarship program will award at least 50 scholarships to American students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan during the 2012-2013 academic year or the Fall 2012 semester. Recipients of Bridging Scholarships will receive stipends ranging from $2,500 to $4,000, depending on the length of their study program in Japan. The deadline for applications for the Fall 2012 semester or for the 2012-13 academic year is April 6, 2012. The Gilman Scholarship Program is happy to announce that the online application system is now open for students participating in study abroad programs during either the Summer 2012 or Fall 2012 or 2012-2013 Academic Year terms.

Freeman-ASIA provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Applicants should have a minimum 2.8 GPA. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures. Awards of up to $5,000 are available for spring programs. Award recipients are required to share their experiences with their home campuses or communities to encourage study abroad by others.

Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan

Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study and attending any recognized exchange or independent program in Japan are eligible to apply for these scholarships. The deadline for applications for the Fall 2012 semester or the 2012-2013 academic year is April 6, 2012. Applicants will be notified of the results by May 30.
