This five-week intensive Chinese language immersion study abroad program in the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai is designed to move students quickly into a higher level of proficiency in Chinese. The program offers multi-level classes; no background in the language is required. The program also includes cultural activities and language practicum designed to complement and encourage language acquisition. Excursions to cultural and historical centers in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing are organized to further advance the acquisition of spoken Chinese. NO PREVIOUS STUDY OF CHINESE REQUIRED. . Asia Council Summer Program: Zhengzhou University, China |

The 2013 program offers courses in art, economics, history, communications, political science, religious studies, and socioology. Earn 6 undergraduate or graduate semester hours. The host institution is Zhengzhou University which has a student population of 35,000. The city is close to many historical and cultural sites including the famous Shaolin Monastery where martial arts traditions were established. The program fee includes round-trip airfare, lodging and most meals, field trips and excursions, most ground transportation, and visa application. Asia Council Summer Study Program: Korea
The main goal of this program is to help students acquire a general grasp of the
social, economic, and political systems of a different society and further a
comparative worldview that can enhance competence in their careers.
Instruction will include class lectures, written projects, field trips, and
weekend excursions. An orientation session will be given to students on the
first day of the class at the host university. Instructional formats specified
above will meet the minimum number of class contact hours stipulated by the
Board of Regents. Each student is required to sign up for two courses.
Duration: July 1, 2013 - July 23, 2013
Program fee is $3950 and includes: round trip airfare from Atlanta, accommodations, most transportation, all program related excursions, entrance fees and tour guides, travel, health insurance for the duration of the program, and most meals.
