Summer Camp for High School Students (Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) in Forensic Science

Information: This Forensic Science Camp is a week-long hands-on camp for rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors to discover what a real CSI does. During this week, students will learn how to process a mock crime scene, conduct laboratory work to solve the crime, visit a real crime lab, and bring their mock case to trial. Students will receive a workbook to document their activities. Students will work in small groups of six to process their own crime scene. If interested, contact Dr. Chan at wjchan@valdosta.edu.

Dates: The camp will be held June 10-June 14. The camp runs from 8:30AM to 4:00PM and is supervised and taught by VSU Biology and SACJ Faculty members. Lunch and snacks will be provided, along with a camp t-shirt.

Costs: $150 per camper. There will be a maximum of 30 spots available.

Deadline: Interested students should apply by May 15th, 2013.

Pre-requisites: Students should have taken at least two science courses, including biology. Applicants should be rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in High School.

Application procedure: Interested students should fill out an application form, and submit a $20 deposit along with their high school transcript. Accepted students will be notified within two weeks of application and deposit receipt. Full payment is due on May 30th, 2013.
